Navarrabiomed is a partner of the european project of the European Digital Hub of Navarra, IRIS. The European Digital Hub of Navarra, within the framework of the Digital Europe Programme, has been selected by the European Commission to take part in the first European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs) network. 

This incorporation allows IRIS to act as a catalyst for digital transformation by offering its specialized services in Artificial Intelligence, Supercomputing and Personalised Precision Medicine to companies and public entities at regional, national and European level. 

IRIS Consortium is directed by Goverment of Navarra, with the participation of the most relevant actors in the region´s innovation ecosystem, including entities of the Navarra R+D+I system, SINAI, such as universities, technology and research centres, ICT suppliers, professional associations and sectorial business associations and clusters.

Specifically, IRIS EDIH is made up of 23 entities (two of them as affiliated entities), as providers of advanced digitalisation services of a unique and complementary nature to existing commercial ones, fully aligned with the European Digital Programme, the Navarra Digital 2030 strategy, Personalise Navarra strategy and the S4 regional specialisation strategy. These entities are:ADItech (as cordinating entity), NAITEC, AIN, CNTA, Lurederra, CSIC, UPNA, University of Navarra, ATANA, Nasertic, Navarrabiomed, INTIA, CEIN, Dinabide, Tracasa Instrumental, Tracasa global, Nagrifood, CEN, Chamber of Navarra, Cluster Functional Print, Citi Navarra, Econet and the Official College of Engineers of Navarra. SISAQOL-IMI (945042  - Setting International Standards in Analysing Patient-Reported Outcomes and Quality of Life Endpoints in Cancer Clinical Trials – IMI) is an international multidisciplinary consortium, co-led by the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) and Boehringer Ingelheim (BI). The consortium has been convened to generate recommendations to standardize the use, analysis, and interpretation of patient reported outcome (PRO) data in cancer clinical trials.

SISAQOL-IMI will establish guidance on how to use patient-reported outcomes in cancer clinical trials so that they can be used in a methodologically sound way, analysed in a statistically adequate manner, and intelligibly presented to ensure a high study quality and a better comparability of results across clinical trials.

In june 2023, The Lancet - Oncology Magazine publishes the article: Setting International Standards in Analyzing Patient-Reported Outcomes and Quality of Life Endpoints in Cancer Clinical Trials-Innovative Medicines Initiative (SISAQOL-IMI): stakeholder views, objectives, and procedures.

The recognition of autoantigens by immune cells, such as B or T cells, is an event that can trigger toxic activity against one self’s tissues, a mechanism frequently linked to autoimmune diseases. In type 1 diabetes, the destruction of insulin-producing pancreatic beta cells by autoreactive T lymphocytes leads to the deficiency of this hormone. In this project, the team of the Unit of Protein Crystallography and Structural Immunology of Navarrabiomed sets out to reveal the mechanisms that make these recognitions take place at the molecular level between well-defined cell membrane proteins. And it is precisely the intermolecular interactions between these proteins that the researchers will analyze with cutting-edge structural biology approaches.

This project is funded by EFSD / Lilly European Diabetes Research Programme.
