Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) Proteomics: Methods and Protocols is the second edition devoted exclusively to the in-depth molecular analysis of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). The monograph, published by Springer Nature (in print and electronic formats in English), was coordinated by Enrique Santamaría, head of the Clinical Neuroproteomics Unit, and Joaquín Fernández-Irigoyen, head of the Proteomics Scientific and Technical Department, and assembles the latest advances in CSF molecular analysis, which is so important in protecting and maintaining brain activity.

This work follows on from the first edition of the manual, published in 2019, and now includes contributions from a total of 75 researchers from eight countries. It is structured into six sections, with a total of 22 chapters focusing on the different technological approaches that currently enable proteomic, metabolomic and bioinformatic analysis of CSF, facilitating both the understanding of the molecular information present in this fluid and the identification of biomarkers and therapeutic targets associated with neurodegenerative and psychiatric diseases.
