Communication and design

The Communication and Design Unit is registered as a Science and Innovation Culture Unit (UCC+I) by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), under the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, and is a member of the UCC+I Network.

The Communication and Design Unit is responsible for the comprehensive development and implementation of Navarrabiomed’s communication strategy, promoting and disseminating the centre’s research activities as well as its participation in European cross-border cooperation networks (INTERREG POCTEFA, SUDOE and Horizon Europe programmes), and in regional, national and international research projects. In addition, the Unit leads its own innovative initiatives aimed at bringing health research closer to society, fostering young people’s interest in STEM disciplines, and raising awareness of the importance of integrating an inclusive gender dimension into R&D&I.

At the same time, the Unit provides support to the Government of Navarre’s Ministry of Health and the University Hospital of Navarre (HUN), while also advising professionals across Navarra’s public health ecosystem on communication, design and science outreach matters. Featured projects: 

• Navarrabiomed 10th Anniversary Exhibition. Development of the science outreach exhibition “From Cell to Patient. 10 Years Advancing Together”. The exhibition was also adapted to a virtual environment, allowing online visits in both Spanish and Basque. COSMOS 2022 and 2023 projects, funded by the Government of Navarre.
• Science Forum Theatre: Research with a Gender Dimension. An initiative designed to promote gender-sensitive research in the biomedical field among young people and to raise awareness of this issue by actively involving them in exploring solutions to the challenges portrayed on stage. The project also includes the development of an interactive digital tool that enables further work on the topic in classrooms and other educational settings.
