Acción Social of Caja Rural de Navarra Partners with Navarrabiomed to Promote Excellence in Public Biomedical Research
The agreement signed by both organisations will support the recruitment of research staff, the development of strategic projects, and the social outreach of science in Navarra.
Navarrabiomed, the biomedical research centre of Navarra, and Acción Social of Caja Rural de Navarra have signed a collaboration agreement aimed at strengthening the centre’s research capacity, consolidating strategic research areas through the incorporation of new research and innovation lines, and reinforcing the connection between science and society.
The agreement was signed today by Javier Gómez-Arrue, Director of Navarrabiomed, and Juan Mari Ayechu, representative of Acción Social of Caja Rural de Navarra. The framework agreement is expected to remain in force for a period of four years.
During the signing ceremony, Juan Mari Ayechu highlighted the importance of the partnership between the two organisations:
“Acción Social of Caja Rural de Navarra maintains a strong commitment to the social and economic development of the Chartered Community of Navarra, and medical research is a strategic area of action. This agreement will promote excellence in public health research, ultimately improving people’s quality of life through earlier diagnoses and more personalised treatments, while helping to address the healthcare challenges of the future.”
For his part, Javier Gómez-Arrue emphasised the impact that the agreement will have on the biomedical research centre:
“We welcome this collaboration with Acción Social of Caja Rural de Navarra, which will consolidate strategic initiatives of high scientific value aimed at strengthening Navarrabiomed’s research capacity. In addition, this agreement will support the institution’s development and reinforce our contribution to the public healthcare system.”
Strengthening Research, Development and Innovation in Navarra
Both organisations share a strong commitment to public service and social responsibility, reflected in their collaboration with third-sector organisations and their support for initiatives that reinforce Navarra’s position as an innovative European region.
Within this framework, the partnership aims to strengthen Navarra’s standing as a leading European region in biomedicine and includes several actions designed to promote research within the public health research ecosystem.
One of the main initiatives will be the “CRN Talent Boost Programme” (Impulsa Talento CRN), which will support the recruitment and retention of senior professionals with the goal of strengthening Navarrabiomed’s various research units.
The agreement will also support the “CRN Strategic Science Project” (Ciencia Estratégica CRN), focused on enhancing the centre’s principal research areas:Precision medicine, Active and healthy living, Cardiovascular diseases, Neurodegenerative diseases, Cancer, Infectious and inflammatory diseases. These areas reflect both Navarrabiomed’s scientific capabilities and some of the most pressing health challenges facing society today.
The objective is to promote strategic research projects that increase the quality and competitiveness of research conducted in Navarra while accelerating the transfer of knowledge to the healthcare system and society. Planned actions include the acquisition of advanced scientific and technological equipment and the strengthening of key infrastructures that support public biomedical research.
The partnership between Acción Social of Caja Rural de Navarra and Navarrabiomed also includes the launch of the “CRN Excellence and Connection Project” (Excelencia y Conexión CRN), aimed at strengthening the cross-cutting areas that amplify the impact of research beyond the laboratory environment.
The initiative seeks to enhance institutional relationships and promote a model of science that is more inclusive, accessible, and connected to society, ensuring that scientific advances generate tangible benefits for citizens and contribute more effectively to addressing societal challenges.
